Dear Friends
It's been just over a month since Re-Launch. The past month has been a blur, but at the same time it's been thoroughly enjoyable. Thanks so much for helping us get here, we could not do it without you.
We have had 5 weeks of Sunday gatherings since Re-Launch and have been averaging around 175 each week. The cool thing is that the past two weeks the universities have been on spring break, so we were expecting a decrease of about 40-50 people. Add those numbers back in and our average would be close to 200. That being said, we are excited about this weekend as the students are back from break.
Our opening series was titled "Christian No More". The idea behind it was that we need to drop the religion of Christianity and practice being a Christ follower. People responded well to our first series and have begun to check out our weekly community groups and serving opportunities.
God is good, all the time. He has continued to bless our efforts here in Boston. We have a long way to go, but at the same time, it's easy to push forward knowing that you are continuing to pray for us and encourage us. Again, thank you so much for helping us get here. You are a much more of an encouragement than you realize.
God Bless,
The REUNION Team
The New England Climate
One of the questions we get often has to do with the spiritual climate in New England. The following is an email that Tim Hawkins (Sojourn Collegiate Ministries) sent to us recently. Hopefully you can get a better glimpse of the climate by reading this email.
Steph and I had dinner last night with the college guy and his wife from Christ the King (Church) in Cambridge.
He was on campus at BU yesterday for a Bible Study/Prayer meeting with BU students, when the Assistant Dean of the chapel stopped him. The Dean warned him that he was not allowed on campus and that if he continued to come on campus to meet with students it would be an issue.
He’s not sure what direction they will go now, whether they will meet somewhere else, or register as a Reformed Christian Fellowship on campus.
Bradley has been here working in the city for 7 years, he is a great guy, but Friday was their largest gathering at BU in those seven years with 13 students.
On a side note, over the past year through the partnership of REUNION and Sojourn Collegiate Ministries we have seen 25 connect into one of our community groups.
Making Ends Meet
Here is a link to an article about what a single mother needs to make in Boston in order to "make ends meet." After living in Boston for a year and a half, we believe it. Click here for the article.
Prayer
Here are some things you could pray for this month:
- Pray that our support finances rebound after a slow start this year.
- For our new community groups we are launching over the next months.
- That our partner Sojourn would continue to connect with students before the school year is over.
- That the message of Jesus would change lives here in Boston.
