Spotlight on:
Harbor of Hope Christian Church - North Chelmsford, Massachusetts -
After the doors of Bedford Christian Church closed in 1998, several people from that congregation along with others from the Lowell, Massachusetts, area began meeting and preparing for the launch of a new church. Under the leadership of Brent Storms, Harbor of Hope celebrated its first service on Sunday, November 7, 1999, at the Doubletree Hotel in downtown Lowell.
Now eight years later Harbor of Hope is a growing, thriving congregation reaching the greater Lowell area with the message and hope of Jesus. In 2004, Harbor of Hope moved to Chelmsford, a neighboring community of Lowell. Inhabiting the lower level of an historic mill building, Harbor of Hope is now known as "the church in the mill" and is helping people find their way back to God.

Harbor of Hope has actively been a part of planting new churches. Toney Salva, one of Harbor's own founding pastors, was sent to plant a church in Pittsburgh, PA. Other interns and staff from Harbor have also planted or are helping to plant new churches across the northeast.
Harbor is a growing church ... not only with new people from the community but with lots of babies too. This past spring a family dedication service was held that included twelve babies of which three were from staff families! They are very excited as more babies are arriving this fall in this young congregation.
This past June Harbor had a "Day of Service." By sending out over 50 volunteers to eight different community service institutions, Harbor was able to touch the neighboring community with acts of kindness and love by serving those in need. At the Chelmsford 4th of July festivities Harbor volunteers handed out 2500 bottles of water and painted hundreds of kids' faces. The Harbor congregation really sees great opportunities to reach out to the community and share Christ's love in practical ways and hopes to do even more in the future.
