The Cambodians

The New Life Cambodian Christian Church is looking for a building. We have been looking for some time but suitable buildings are very limited in the Lowell, Massachusetts, area.

Recently an adult daycare company approached us about the possibility of working together in finding and using a building. The company provides special assistance to physician-referred individuals. They want to serve the large Cambodian population during the daytime hours Monday through Friday which would allow us to use the building in the evenings and on weekends. Unfortunately, no suitable building has been found yet.

A West African church recently bought an empty Catholic church building. They have more room than they need and have asked us to explore the option of sharing the building. This may be the direction we'll take if the daycare opportunity does not result in positive movement soon.

Ministry does continue in the midst of looking for a good worship location. Our Saturday afternoon Bible study continues to go well with 8-12 attending. We are studying the life of Jesus using a small workbook that raises questions which encourage us to look at the biblical text. We are planning a community outreach this summer through a cookout. If we come to an agreement with the West Africans and use their building, we will most likely hold the event in the parking lot.

Praises:

  • The Saturday Bible study and the hunger for the Word of God
  • The faithfulness of those who attend despite building issues
  • The opportunities for a different place to worship

Prayer Points:

  • Wisdom for leadership development
  • A new Bible study
  • Wisdom for the right building
